KSFO's "hot talk" radio morning radio hosts have been in hot water before for comments about the Muslim religion -- and this week, Bay Area broadcaster Brian Sussman appears to be at it again.
This week's Monday 7-8 a.m. hour on the KSFO Morning Show was a real eyebrow-raiser, in which Sussman and his radio sidekick, Officer Vic, launched into a slapstick routine on Islam and its tenets.
"Islamic finance is about living within your means and helping the needy -- unless they're Jews,'' he laughed in a segment tracked by Media Matters. "The great honor qualities of that old time religion: honor killings, female circumcision, not allowing women to drive.''
Take a listen here:
It's not the first time Sussman, a former weatherman, has won attention for his abrasive statements on Islam.
He had to issue a high profile public apology in 2007 to Muslims, and the station devoted hours of broadcasting to discussing the matter, after calls for a boycott of advertisers.
Some incidents that ramped up the blogosphere: Sussman told one Muslim caller to "Say Allah is a whore'' and later called then-presidential candidate Barack Obama "halfrican" in ancestry.
Faced with a blogger named Spocko who tracked the comments -- and some major advertisers who pulled out from the station's morning broadcast -- Sussman acknowledged then that in the course of talking on the air "without a net" for 20-odd hours a week, he sometimes went over the line.
Has he crossed the line this time? We report, you decide.
