After announcing plans to take the show off-air in March, officials at ABC have denied that the hit series "Ugly Betty" will be canceled.
The program, starring America Ferrera, is being pulled mid-way through its current third season run and replaced by new episodes of Christina Applegate's "Samantha Who?" and comedy "In the Motherhood."
The move prompted fears the series would be axed following the season three finale, but TV executives have now issued a statement assuring fans the show will be back.
An ABC spokesperson says, "'Ugly Betty' will return following the run of 'In the Motherhood' and 'Samantha Who?' The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies. That said, 'Betty' is a solid performer and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats."

The cast of the '90s sitcom "Full House" -- the show that launched the careers of the Olsen Twins -- is planning to return to the small screen in an up-to-date version.
Mary-Kate and Ashley found fame sharing the role of little Michelle Elizabeth Tanner in the comedy, which ran from 1987 to 1995.
It also made stars out of castmembers Bob Saget, John Stamos, Jodie Sweetin, Davie Coulier and Candace Cameron Bure.
And Stamos is plotting to reunite at least some of the cast for a "semi-remake."
Cameron Bure tells OK! magazine, "John has been working on a semi-remake of "Full House."
"I know it would involve me and Jodie Sweetin. We would revive our characters, but today as young women."

Popular 1990s soap opera "Melrose Place" is reportedly set to follow in the footsteps of "Beverly Hills, 90210" with a return to the small screen.
Bosses on the show -- which starred Heather Locklear and launched the careers of Marcia Cross and Kristin Davis -- are working on an updated version of the series, according to E! Online.
The show ran from 1992 to 1999 and was notorious for its sensationalist storylines and extravagant characters.
The move to bring it back comes after the "Beverly Hills, 90210" spin-off hit screens over the summer. Both series were produced by late TV mogul Aaron Spelling.
Former "Melrose Place" star Lisa Rinna has fueled reports of a comeback, saying, "I've heard a rumor of them bringing back the show like they did '90210.'"

Luke Perry is under pressure to return to Beverly Hills after his TV character Dylan McKay was named the father of Kelly Taylor's son on the "Beverly Hills, 90210" spin-off "90210" on Tuesday night.
Only Jennie Garth -- who revives her role as Taylor in the new show -- Joe E. Tata and Shannen Doherty agreed to return to the famous address for the new series, but now Garth is hoping the bombshell will bring Perry back.
Garth says, "I would love to work with Luke again. I love him dearly."
The actor as well as former co-star Jason Priestley have turned down attempts to bring them back to "90210" and Doherty has walked away from the spin-off after filming her contracted four episodes.

Actor Joshua Jackson talks with MTV VJ Lyndsey Rodrigues on MTV's "Total Request Live" show in New York.
The MTV show that helped launch the careers of Britney Spears, *N Sync and Eminem is to end after 10 years on air.
The music channel's popular "Total Request Live" show has been axed, with the final show airing in November.
Launched in 1998, the show featured hot new music videos, and viewers were introduced to their favorite pop stars through exclusive interviews.
Former "TRL" host Carson Daly is expected to return for the two-hour special finale.
And stars who shot to fame on the show are sad to see it go. Rapper Eminem told the Associate Press that he'll miss causing trouble on the beloved series.
He says, "I'm going to miss TRL. Where else will I be able to start feuds, defend my honor vigorously and act like an angry teenager on national TV? Oh wait ... The VMAs!"

TV chiefs are desperately trying to keep the plot of the new "Beverly Hills, 90210" spin-off show under wraps.
Bosses at the CW have refused to release any footage of the new program ahead of its debut on September 2.
And critics have been banned from reviewing the show, with no advance screenings planned before it airs on TV.
A statement from CW reads, "The CW and our studio partner CBS Paramount Network Television have made the strategic marketing decision not to screen '90210' for any media in advance of its premiere.
"We're not hiding anything. ... simply keeping a lid on '90210' until 9.02, riding the curiosity and anticipation into premiere night, and letting all our constituents see it at the same time."
The series has been hit by controversy in recent weeks with Tori Spelling quitting the project in an alleged row over her salary.
Other original stars, including Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth, will both be reprising their roles for the new-look show.

The producers of "America's Next Top Model" have been praised by the president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation for including a transgender contestant in the new series.
The hit reality show, created by former supermodel Tyra Banks, will enter its 11th season next month and will include former receptionist Isis, who describes herself as "a woman born physically male."
The 22-year-old is one of the 14 contestants vying for the grand prize of a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics, a management deal with Elite Model Management, and a spread in Seventeen magazine.
GLAAD chief Neil Giuliano is proud of the move: "(This is) an unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television.
"We applaud Tyra Banks and The CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible."
The new season of "America's Next Top Model" will debut on September 3.

Actress Jorja Fox is heading back to "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," just months after quitting the show.
The star, who plays Sara Sidle on the hit series, walked away from the show last fall, but she is now set to return for the third episode of the upcoming series.
Confirming the news to TV Guide magazine, Fox says, "The kindest thing that the writers did for Sara Sidle was to walk her out (of the show) in one piece.
"I had an amazing, beautiful, honorable, dignified exit."
And she's thrilled she'll be back among her cast members: "I miss the people. When I left in October, it was so decisive -- everybody got me a good-bye cake.
"(But) it's a surprise for me to be back, especially this soon."
